A Cloudflare "Verify you are human" loop usually has one of five causes. An extension is blocking the challenge script (or JavaScript is turned off), your browser is not storing the pass cookie, the browser is outdated, your IP has a poor reputation (common on VPNs), or the site has strict rules of its own. Test them in that order: a private window with no extensions, then a different network such as mobile data.
Why does Cloudflare keep asking me to verify I'm human?
Cloudflare shows the check when a request looks risky enough to question. According to Cloudflare's challenge troubleshooting documentation (as of September 2026), the triggers are:
- Threat score: "IP addresses with a high-risk score trigger Challenges."
- IP reputation: "If your IP has a history of suspicious activity, it may be flagged."
- Bot detection signals.
- The site's own WAF custom rules.
- Browser Integrity Check, which verifies that browsers meet certain standards.
Cloudflare runs the check, but the site owner decides how strict it is. One site can challenge every visitor from a country or every request to its login page. Another site on the same network never shows the check at all. Cloudflare also notes that Privacy Pass reduces how often you see repeated challenges.
What causes the loop, and what should you test first?
Work through the causes from easiest to rule out to hardest. Each step takes under a minute.
1. Extensions and script blockers
Ad blockers, script blockers and privacy tools can strip headers or stop the challenge script from running. When that happens the check can restart on every attempt. One of Cloudflare's visitor fixes is to temporarily disable extensions "such as ad blockers or privacy tools". Challenges also need JavaScript, so make sure it is on for the site. Turn extensions off for the affected site, or test in a window where extensions are disabled.
2. Cookies blocked or cleared on exit
When you pass a challenge, Cloudflare sets a cf_clearance cookie in your browser, according to its challenge passage documentation. If the browser blocks cookies for the site or wipes cookies on every close, the pass may never persist. You then solve the check, reload, and get it again. Allow cookies for that domain and check any "clear on exit" setting.
3. Outdated browser
Challenges rely on modern browser features. Cloudflare's guidance is to update to the latest stable version. Separately from Cloudflare's list, a system clock set far from real time can break secure connections in general, so confirm your date and time sync automatically.
4. VPN or proxy IP reputation
A shared VPN exit carries the history of everyone who used it before you. Cloudflare names this case directly: a poor-reputation IP is "often seen with shared VPNs or corporate proxies," and the fix is to switch to a different trusted network. Run the IP Blacklist Checker to see whether your current address appears on abuse lists.
5. The site's own rules
If a clean browser on a clean network still loops, the site's firewall rules are the likely cause. Nothing on your side will change that. Skip to the section on single-site loops below.
How do you isolate the cause in two minutes?
Two tests narrow the five causes down. Treat the results as clues, then confirm with the next check in the table. First, open a private window with all extensions disabled and load the site. Second, if it still loops, switch the same device to mobile data (turn Wi-Fi off) and try again.
Check which network you are actually on before and after the switch:
What does your IP reveal right now?
| Test result | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Private window passes | Extension or cookie setting | Re-enable extensions one by one; allow cookies for the site |
| Private window loops, mobile data passes | IP reputation (VPN, shared or corporate network) | Disconnect the VPN or change network |
| Loops on every network, other sites fine | The site's own rules | Contact the site with the Ray ID |
| Loops on every site, every network | Outdated browser or system clock | Update the browser; enable automatic time |
Switching to mobile data often clears the loop because it puts you on a different network and a different IP. Most mobile carriers place IPv4 subscribers behind carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), so one public address is shared by many ordinary phone users at once, which is a different history from a VPN exit. It often works, not always: a site with strict country or login rules will still challenge you.
Why is "Verifying you are human" taking so long?
A check that spins without finishing usually means the challenge script is blocked or cannot complete. The common culprits are a script blocker, a browser extension that modifies headers, or a network that interferes with the connection. On a slow or flaky network the check can also time out and restart. Run the private-window test first. If the spinner still hangs, change network.
What should you do when only one site loops?
A loop on a single site, across browsers and networks, points to that site's configuration. Contact the site owner or its support team and include the Ray ID. Cloudflare prints this identifier at the bottom of the challenge page. The Ray ID helps the owner look up your request in their security events and see which rule acted on it. Add the time, your browser version and whether you were on a VPN.
Cloudflare cannot loosen another site's rules for you. The owner sets them and only the owner can change them.
What if you hit the check from automation or a scraper?
Scripts and headless browsers face the same triggers, plus fingerprint checks that a normal browser passes without effort. The guide to Cloudflare Turnstile in 2026 covers how the challenge scores automated clients and how to configure a stack that avoids false flags. Run the Browser Fingerprint Test on your automation profile to see what it exposes.
For the network layer, mobile proxies for web scraping route requests through real 4G/5G devices. Each VoidMob proxy exit is a device on a consumer carrier connection, so its public IPv4 address sits behind the same carrier CGNAT as ordinary subscribers. As of September 2026, shared pay-per-GB plans start at $3.99 for 1 GB and drop to $2.50 per GB on the 100 GB tier.
Is Cloudflare human verification legit?
Yes. Cloudflare's challenge is a real security check that many sites use against automated traffic. Legitimate verification never asks you to run a command. A page that tells you to paste something into Run, Terminal or PowerShell to 'verify' is a scam, not Cloudflare. Close it.
How do I get rid of Cloudflare human verification?
You cannot turn it off, because the site owner controls it. You can stop the loop: disable extensions for the site, allow its cookies, update your browser and switch off a VPN or change network. Privacy Pass, which Cloudflare says reduces repeated challenges, can cut how often you see the check.
Why is Cloudflare stuck on 'Verifying you are human'?
The challenge script usually cannot finish. An ad blocker, script blocker or header-modifying extension is a common cause, and so is a poor-reputation VPN IP. Test in a private window without extensions, then on mobile data.
Does a VPN cause the Cloudflare loop?
Often. Cloudflare's troubleshooting page says poor IP reputation is often seen with shared VPNs and corporate proxies. Disconnect the VPN or switch servers, and the check often passes.
What is the Ray ID on the Cloudflare page?
The Ray ID is an identifier Cloudflare attaches to your request, shown at the bottom of the challenge page. Send it to the site owner when only their site loops, so they can find the rule that challenged you.
