What is a Proxy Validator?

A proxy validator (also called a proxy checker or proxy tester) is a tool that verifies whether a proxy server is reachable, functional, and trustworthy. When you configure a proxy - HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5 - you need to know: does it actually work? What IP does the outside world see? Is that IP flagged as a proxy, a VPN, or a datacenter address? This tool answers all of those questions in one test, so you can confirm your proxy is doing its job before relying on it for automation, account management, or privacy.

How Platforms Detect Proxies

Every signal our validator checks mirrors what platforms like Google, Instagram, and Cloudflare evaluate in real time. Understanding these detection methods helps you pick the right proxy for the job.

ASN LookupThe Autonomous System Number identifies the network operator behind an IP. Platforms maintain lists of hosting and cloud ASNs (AWS, DigitalOcean, OVH) and flag traffic from them automatically. Our validator shows your proxy's provider and ASN so you can see exactly what platforms see.
IP TypeFraud detection systems classify every IP as mobile, residential, datacenter, or VPN. Datacenter and VPN IPs get higher scrutiny by default. Mobile and residential IPs blend in with normal consumer traffic. This single classification drives most platform trust decisions.
Risk ScoringThird-party intelligence feeds assign a 0-100 risk score to every IP based on historical abuse reports, blacklist presence, and traffic patterns. A high risk score triggers CAPTCHAs, rate limits, or outright blocks. Our validator surfaces this score so you know your proxy's reputation before it costs you an account.
Geo SignalsPlatforms cross-reference your proxy's exit location against your account's history, timezone, and language settings. A sudden jump from New York to Singapore is a trust signal red flag. Location data from the validator helps you verify your proxy exits where you expect it to.

Why IP Type Matters

Mobile IPs

Mobile carrier IPs are shared among thousands of real smartphone users on the same network. Platforms see high traffic volume from these ranges and treat them as normal consumer behavior. They are rarely blacklisted, almost never flagged as proxies, and consistently earn the lowest risk scores in detection systems. For account management, scraping, or any task that requires blending in with organic traffic, mobile IPs are the gold standard.

Datacenter IPs

Datacenter IP ranges - AWS, DigitalOcean, OVH, Hetzner - are well-known to every platform's fraud detection team. The ASN alone is often enough to trigger heightened scrutiny, CAPTCHA challenges, or outright blocks. Even a clean datacenter IP that has never been abused will receive a higher risk score simply because of where it originates. If your proxy validator returns "datacenter" as the IP type, expect friction on any platform that takes trust signals seriously.
