Playwright MCP setup
Point Playwright MCP at a 4G/5G proxy list with one flag, and add VoidMob's MCP server to the same client for real US numbers when a sign-up asks for a code.

# VoidMob tools: numbers, eSIMs and proxy lists$ claude mcp add voidmob -s user -e VOIDMOB_API_KEY='${VOIDMOB_API_KEY}' -- npx -y @voidmob/mcp# Playwright's browser, once the agent has made you an IP-whitelist list$ claude mcp add playwright -- npx @playwright/mcp@latest --proxy-server http://proxy.voidmob.com:10000Then ask Playwright
What's my VoidMob balance?A number back means the key and the install both work.
Both servers run side by side in one client. The second line is Playwright's own flag, so other clients put --proxy-server and its value in the args of their Playwright entry. Run it after the list exists.
What VoidMob adds to Playwright
Playwright MCP is Microsoft's MCP server that lets an AI agent drive a real browser through structured page snapshots. It starts with npx inside your MCP client and opens the browser on that same computer, so pages see your own address unless you give it a proxy.
A mobile IP for the browser your agent drives
Playwright MCP opens its browser on your computer or VPS, so every page sees that address. One flag gives the same browser a 4G/5G carrier IP in the country you pick, the view a local phone user gets.
Proxies for AI agentsCodes for the sign-ups it clicks through
When a sign-up on a listed third-party service asks for a phone number, the agent rents a US non-VoIP number, waits for the SMS and types the code into the page. No SMS within the window and the price goes back to your balance.
SMS verificationYour app's SMS login, tested in a real browser
Point the agent at a staging copy of your app and give the test account a dedicated monthly number. It signs in through the browser and reads the code your app sends, since that number receives SMS from any sender.
Dedicated numbersSet up VoidMob in Playwright
One step is yours whichever path you take: create an API key in the dashboard and top up the balance with crypto.
Create a key and fund the balance
Create a key under Developers, API Keys in the VoidMob dashboard (it is shown once) and top up with crypto. Agents can spend the balance and nothing beyond it.
Add the VoidMob server
Export the key as
VOIDMOB_API_KEY, then run the first line above. Try the sandbox line first to watch the tools work on play money.Ask for a list for this computer
Tell the agent: "Quote the smallest shared plan, and after my yes make a US IP-whitelist list for this computer's public address." A whitelist list takes a few minutes longer to work.
Add Playwright with the proxy flag
Run the second line above. The flag is read when the browser starts, so restart your client afterwards.
Check the address
Ask the agent to open
https://ipinfo.io/jsonand report the city and network. A US mobile network means the browser is on the list.
A first task to try
Paste this to Playwright. The panel plays what the setup above makes happen.
Open the Discord sign-up in the browser. When it asks for a phone number, quote me a US number and wait for my yes, then enter the code it receives.A US non-VoIP number for Discord is $0.15. It stays open 15 minutes, and if no SMS arrives the $0.15 goes back to your balance. Rent it?
Your Discord verification code is 482913
That's your code. More codes can arrive on this number until it expires.
Playwright opens a visible window unless you start it with --headless, so you can step in at any point. No SMS within the window and the price goes back to your balance.
Checks before every charge
Two checks always run at VoidMob: the price you approved and your balance. Two more run inside your MCP server when you set them. A refusal at any of them charges nothing.
No SMS, no charge
A verification number stays open 15 minutes. If no SMS arrives, the price returns to the balance automatically, except on services marked non-refundable.
Keys you can pull
Give Playwright its own key and revoke it on the API Keys page whenever you like. It stops working at once.

When Playwright and VoidMob disagree
Pages show your own address after you added the flag
A browser reads its proxy when it starts, so one that was already open keeps its old route, and a client keeps the server it started with.
Fix
Run
claude mcp remove playwright, add it again with the flag and restart the client so the browser launches fresh.Navigation fails with
net::ERR_INVALID_AUTH_CREDENTIALS--proxy-servertakes no username or password, so a login written into the address is refused.Fix
Use an IP-whitelist list with the bare address, or move the proxy into a
--configfile whosebrowser.launchOptions.proxyholdsserver,usernameandpassword.Pages stop loading on a list that worked yesterday
An IP-whitelist list accepts only the address it was created for. A home connection or a VPS can get a new public address, and a whitelist cannot be edited.
Fix
Create a new list for the new address, or switch to a login list in the config file. A static address keeps one whitelist list working.
Model calls slow down or fail once a proxy is set
HTTPS_PROXYin your shell sends every process through the proxy, the agent's own model traffic included.Fix
Keep proxy variables out of the environment and give the proxy only to Playwright, through its
--proxy-serverflag or its config file.
Give Playwright a balance to draw on
Create an API key, top it up with crypto, and paste it where the setup above says. Prefer to look first? The MCP server runs on play money with no key.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about VoidMob in Playwright.
Why a proxy when Playwright MCP runs on my own computer?
Can I use a list with a login instead of a whitelist?
--config proxy.json, where the file is {"browser": {"launchOptions": {"proxy": {"server": "http://proxy.voidmob.com:10000", "username": "<login>", "password": "<password>"}}}}. Use http://: Chrome cannot send a SOCKS5 login. Is this the same as setting a proxy in Playwright code?
Will the agent buy without asking?
-e VOIDMOB_MAX_ORDER_CENTS=2500 -e VOIDMOB_BUDGET_CENTS=5000 to the first command, or VOIDMOB_READ_ONLY=1 for search and status only.Which MCP clients does this work in?
@playwright/mcp@latest, in that client's own config. The VoidMob server is a second entry in the same file, and the MCP page lists the install line for each client.Based on Playwright's own docs: Playwright MCP · Playwright MCP configuration · Playwright proxy option · Claude Code MCP.
