What to expect in Mauritius
Our Mauritius plans connect to my.t, the Mauritius Telecom network that switched on the island's first 5G in mid-2021, after the regulator licensed 5G that June. Emtel, also on some plans, followed in August 2023, and CHiLi is the third operator. The plans are sold as 5G, with 4G where 5G has not reached.
Here you pick the exit. Some plans route through the United Kingdom, others through Singapore, and each shows which before you buy. Neither gives a Mauritian IP, so a local bank's website sees a foreign connection.
Flights land at Plaine Magnien, about 48 km from Port Louis, a long transfer to north-coast hotels, so this eSIM is worth switching on before the taxi leaves.
