What Mercari looks at
The signals that decide whether a session reads as a phone or as automation.
- 01
IP, ISP and mobile network data
Mercari's [Privacy Policy](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/topics/account/policies/mercari-privacy-policy/) lists data it collects, including "computer IP address, device ID or unique identifier, device type, geo-location information (IP country and city), computer and connection information, internet service provider (ISP), mobile network information". It uses information "to protect our services, users and others from actual or potential fraud and misuse". Your connection's network type, carrier and city are part of what your session carries.
- 02
IP type and carrier ASN
Any site can look up whether an IP sits in a mobile carrier, home ISP, datacenter or VPN range, and which network (ASN) owns it. A VoidMob exit is a real 4G/5G device on a US carrier connection, with its IPv4 address behind carrier [CGNAT](/learn/cgnat) and shared with that carrier's ordinary subscribers. Check what your exit shows with the [IP Type Checker](/tools/ip-checker).
- 03
Exit changing mid-session
A signed-in session normally keeps one network path from login to logout. A per-request or timed rotation moves the session to a new IP while you are listing or messaging, which reads as a second connection to any site. Hold one exit for the account with a [sticky session](/learn/what-is-a-sticky-session-mobile-proxy) or a [dedicated device](/proxies/dedicated).
- 04
Timezone and language vs the exit
A browser reports its timezone and language alongside the IP. A cloud machine left on UTC or a non-US locale, behind a US carrier exit, gives two different locations at once. Set both to match the exit and confirm with the [Location Consistency Test](/tools/location-consistency-test).
- 05
Shared browser profiles and pace
Keep one browser profile for your account and use it yourself. Mercari's [account protection article](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/article/528/) says "Letting another person, even family or friends, use your account is an infringement of Mercari’s Terms of Service". Browse, list and reply at your normal pace from that one profile.
- 06
One account per person
Mercari's [Terms of Service](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/topics/account/policies/terms-of-service/) say "You may only register for and maintain one Account per User". Its [help article](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/article/111/) adds "Mercari Terms of Service currently limit accounts to one per person". It also says "Customers with more than one account risk having all accounts closed without notice, and they may be temporarily or permanently banned from our marketplace".
- 07
US residence and accurate details
The [Terms of Service](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/topics/account/policies/terms-of-service/) say "To have a Mercari Account you must reside in the United States". They also say "You are responsible for ensuring your Account accurately reflects your current User Information including your contact information, such as phone number, email and mailing address". And: "We may verify your User Information with a third-party vendor".
- 08
SMS-code check
Mercari's [account protection article](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/article/528/) says "Sometimes we ask users to verify their account with an SMS code to make sure only the account owner can log in". The [Terms](https://www.mercari.com/us/help_center/topics/account/policies/terms-of-service/) say users must not "attempt to disable or circumvent any security or other technological measure designed to protect the App or Website or any content available through the App or Website". A proxy changes the network path, not the check: answer the code on the phone number kept on your account.
What a real device clears
A VoidMob session exits through a phone on a consumer carrier, in the country you choose, on an IP you hold for the whole session. The network-side checks above read as a normal handset; the behaviour-side ones stay yours to manage.
Recommended configuration for Mercari
The four settings that decide whether a session reads as one phone or as traffic. Set them once in the dashboard.
- Account management
- Covers your one Mercari seller account: listing and relisting, answering offers and buyer messages, and printing shipping labels from shared, public or office Wi-Fi, from the road inside the US, or from a selling browser on a cloud machine. A dedicated US 4G/5G device keeps one carrier IP for the whole signed-in session, with unmetered traffic and rotation only when you trigger it.
- Plan
- Dedicated device. One phone and one carrier IP that is yours for the term. No other customer ever exits through it, so the account history on that IP is only yours.See dedicated devices →
- Sticky session
- On, one sticky US exit from sign-in to sign-out, so listing edits, offers and buyer messages share one IP
- Rotation
- Keep rotation off, hold one US carrier exit for the whole signed-in session; rotate only by hand, between sessions
- Accounts per IP
- One Mercari account per IP: your own seller account only
AI agents
An agent can run this Mercari setup
Once you create an API key and fund the balance, an AI agent can price the Mercari setup above, buy it when you say yes, pull the connection details, rotate the IP and watch usage through VoidMob's open-source MCP server. Works with Claude Code, Codex and other local MCP clients.
Common Mercari problems and their network cause
You are signed out or asked to sign in again partway through listing
The exit changed mid-session: a per-request or timed list moved your signed-in session to a new IP. Fix: use a dedicated US device or a list set to Sticky, and keep rotation off until you sign out.
Check it: IP Checker
Pages show the wrong time, language or currency format on your cloud machine
The browser still reports the server's own timezone or locale while traffic exits on a US carrier IP. Fix: set the browser timezone and language to US values that match the exit, then retest.
Check it: Location Test
A leak test shows your home or office IP next to the proxy IP
WebRTC in the browser is exposing the local connection outside the proxy. Fix: disable or restrict WebRTC in the selling profile, or use a browser profile that routes it through the proxy.
Check it: WebRTC Test
Your IP shows as datacenter or VPN instead of mobile
Traffic is not going through the proxy: the app or browser ignored the proxy settings or fell back to the machine's own network. Fix: set the proxy at the browser or profile level and confirm the exit is a mobile carrier. See [mobile proxy shows as datacenter](/learn/mobile-proxy-shows-as-datacenter).
Check it: IP Checker
The browser refuses the proxy with a 407 or a connection error
Wrong credentials, host or port. Fix: lists use proxy.voidmob.com:10000 with the list's own login; dedicated devices use the host, port and login shown on the proxy page. See [407 Proxy Authentication Required](/learn/407-proxy-authentication-required).
Check it: Proxy Checker
Two browsers on the same sticky list show different exit IPs
They connect from different gateway regions, and a sticky list keeps one exit IP per region. Fix: run every browser that must share your account's IP in the same region, or use a dedicated device.
Check it: IP Checker
Test your current IP against Mercari's checks
See what Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms can detect about you.

Why mobile IPs work on Mercari
Mercari proxies, for a US seller, mean one 4G/5G carrier IP in the United States held for your whole signed-in session. VoidMob: mobile proxies on real 4G/5G devices, non-VoIP SMS verification and eSIM. Your listings, buyer messages and labels run from one stable connection instead of shared, public or office Wi-Fi.
As of October 2026, a dedicated US device starts at $49 a week or $129 a month, unmetered. Its IP changes only when you rotate it from the dashboard, the rotation link or API, so a session ends on the exit it started on. A sticky pay-per-GB list from $3.99/GB is the lighter option.
Sold-price research belongs on a separate list, signed out. A pay-per-GB list exiting in the US with timed rotation lets you check sold listings before you source, without that traffic ever touching your account's connection. Browse at a person's pace; public pages carry no session to protect.
Run Mercari on real mobile IPs
Pools from $3.99/GB, or a dedicated device for 1 to 30 days.
