What to expect in Thailand

Thailand is a two-group market: True merged with dtac in March 2023, so its TrueMove H and dtac brands face AIS, with state-owned NT far behind. AIS is the largest single network in our Thai pool, while TrueMove H and dtac together carry more. Bangkok comes first by device count, then Phuket and Pattaya.

The regulator, NBTC, told AIS and True to phase out 2G and 3G by the third quarter of 2026, citing fake base stations that send scam texts. Median mobile downloads reached about 124 Mbps in late 2025, more than double a year earlier.

LINE reaches about 56 million Thai users, as many as TikTok, and Shopee and Lazada lead online shopping traffic. iOS accounts for about 36% of mobile page views.
